The Czech Arctic research station Josef Svoboda on Spitsbergen — in operation since 2014 — has been using HE3DA batteries as a backup power source for four years now. The deployment of our technology in such extreme conditions confirms that HE3DA batteries are ready for environments beyond the Arctic Circle, with the ability to operate at temperatures as low as –40°C.
According to station manager Pavel Pechar:
"The key advantage for us over the lead-acid batteries we had here before is that these survive the winter without charging or maintenance. We disconnect them from service, leave them there, come back in the spring, and they're charged."
The installation of HE3DA technology in the Arctic environment represents not only a technological achievement, but also an important milestone on the road to global sustainability. It shows that the robustness, safety, and long life of the batteries are not just advantages on paper, but proven in practice — even in one of the harshest climatic environments in the world.
For MES, this application confirms our mission: to deliver reliable and efficient energy solutions that stand up wherever conventional technologies fail.
